My local park is a short walk from our house.  I sat down with my sketch book and  looked over to the hills, immedately was inspired by the clouds sweeping across them. My sketch was done quickly but I took notes of things to remind me later then spent some time taking it all in. When I got back to my studio I decided to paint it from memory and my sketch while it was still fresh in my mind.

Im enjoying painting around Turangi, theres a lot of places to be inspired with. Ive been on a lot of walks now, scouting out places I think would be good to paint from or bring back ideas for the studio. Lately Ive been using a lot of smaller boards to paint on and have a good collection now for the local Pihungi Gallery. Most of these have been painted in the field.
