My family and I had another tramp up to the Waihohonu Hut off Dessert Road into the Tongariro National Park. We had our packs on and enough food to stay a couple of nights. The weather was nice and sunny and it only took us one and a half hours to get there. The hut itself is sitting between two mountains, Mt Ruapaehu and Mt Ngauruhoe. I took my sketch book with me and found a beautiful spot near a stream to draw. It was very peaceful with the only noise being the stream ,birds and the slight breeze.
